WHY ENTER CONTESTS THAT PROMISE TO CONNECT YOU TO THE INDUSTRY WHEN YOU CAN ENTER ONE THAT IS THE INDUSTRY?
"I entered my spec script EXTANT in the pilot contest because I'd heard so much about TrackingB and its reputation for helping writers reach the holy grail of representation. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that eight months later I'd be in production, going straight to series on CBS. I know that's a million to one shot, but it happened, and TrackingB's tv pilot contest was the very first step." Mickey Fisher - Finalist (& now Executive Producer/Creator - "Extant" & "Reverie")
"There's no question that I can trace a direct line between me winning the trackingb pilot contest and signing with CAA. This pilot has gone from sitting on my computer to being shopped around town to A-list companies, and the exposure it got from winning the TrackingB.com contest was an essential ingredient in that happening. Winning this contest has unquestionably helped my career." Dan Benamor - 2018 TV contest winner
"The TrackingB contest changed my life as a screenwriter. As a finalist, my script was read by industry professionals all over town, and I ended up signing with an amazing management company (Benderspink). Not only was the exposure great, but I was touched by the personal dedication the TrackingB staff put into answering questions, giving advice, and offering encouragement along the way. There is no question that this competition is the launching point of my career. Can't recommend it enough!" Ashleigh Powell - Finalist (& Now Sold Screenwriter after selling SOMACELL to Warner Brothers!)
“Being lucky enough to take 1st in last years trackingb.com TV contest opened up a whole new set of doors for me. My work was read by some of the top productions companies in Hollywood, names like Lakeshore Entertainment, The Weinstein Company and Tribeca Films. The momentum from the win helped get me to where I’m currently at, working on writing a TV pilot for a top Hollywood comic and developing a feature for State Street Pictures. Winning this contest has gotten me infinitely closer to where I ultimately want to be within the industry.” Peter Hoare -- Overall Winner (& Now Sold Screenwriter after selling EVERYBODY WANTS HEAD to Sentinel Pictures/Cinetic Media!)
As a finalist in several screenwriting and television contests, let me tell you what the problem with most of them is: The contest loses interest in you fast. Typically, they send your script out to five or ten people, and may not even tell you who unless there is interest. After a few weeks, if your script hasn’t caught fire, they’re already thinking about the next contest, and losing interest. When I was selected as a finalist in the Trackingb competition, the Insider contacted me well before the final judging to start the ball rolling. I immediately began receiving updates on which managers and producers were receiving my material. Then, my script went to the panel of judges, where it was reviewed by even more industry players. After the results were announced, I continued to get contacts and leads on where to send my script for weeks and weeks, with the Insider periodically checking in to make sure things were happening. Before long, I was meeting with a manager, and not long after that, my material was on its way to serious production companies. If you’ve got a great script and don’t know what to do with it, I recommend you revise it a few more times, make it the absolute best it can possibly be, and send it to the TrackingB.com contest. It could be the best decision of your screenwriting career. Craig Berger - Finalist
"The Trackingb.com TV pilot contest was a great experience. The staff really cares about the scripts it chooses and they really take the time to follow up after it's all over. After being selected as a top five finalist, I met with some really well-known reps and made some great contacts. If you're looking to get your foot in the door and move your career forward, I would recommend this contest. Without a doubt, one of the best." Tony Cohen - Finalist
