MALE DRIVEN ROM-COM. **TRACKINGB EXCLUSIVE**

BATTING ORDER

Four horny guys crack the “match dot com” code:  A woman will hook up with her 4th Internet date, especially  if the first three set him up to look great.  They run the routine over and over, taking turns “batting clean-up” until something goes wrong for our hero — he falls in love with his friend’s date.

They sure didn’t crack the Plot Device Code.

I always caution writers to avoid doing ‘dot-com’ based ideas. I think there’s another one out this week that has to do w/ Facebook, and another one last month. The problem is that there’s an expiration date on these concepts — next year match.com and Facebook could be obsolete. I suppose the projects could be rewritten to reflect new technology, but it’s never a good play to include dated references as a centerpiece of a movie. Unless it’s a period piece. This idea could probably be figured out w/o a match.com hook…although then it becomes ‘Good Luck Chuck’.

Jesus Jack, now you tell me. After twenty years trying to push around this script about these new Fax machines…

I just realized this is a Chris Soth project. Chris Soth wrote ‘Firestorm’ which is a pretty entertaining movie that got DESTROYED by studio meddling, casting changes, and Savoy going bankrupt. Not sure how relevant this info is, but Chris has written some fun stuff in the past. I reccomend finding a spec called ‘The Cut’ that Chris wrote back in the day. Didn’t get set up, but had a twist-ending that (in this opinion) was pretty damn cool.

He also runs a screenwriting website.
